Cardamom is prized for its fragrant aroma. While it has a delicate taste, its pharmacological value is that it refreshes the mind and is tonic for the heart. Cardamom also strengthens the lungs, and is known to be an excellent expectorant. In india, it is often served at the end of meal because it aids digestion and also freshens the breath. It should, however, be only used in small quantities.
